This knife was owned by a pilot in training at Williams Air Force Base near Maricopa County, AZ. The base opened in 1941 and trained over 26,000 pilots during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq. The Base finally closed down  in 1993. The person who owned the knife was in the 20th Civil Engineer Sq., EOD division, and trained for his mission at Williams AFB for Vietnam.

*** I believe this to be associated with the Air Force’s 20th Civil Engineer Squadron, Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD). Air Force indicates EOD personal are “trained to detect, disarm, detonate and dispose of explosive threats.” “Often assigned to some of the most dangerous missions, they perform tactically harrowing and technically demanding tasks in diverse environments worldwide.” ***

  1. Hello, Is the stone an A.G. Russell? That would date the knife to 1971. Otherwise could be 71-74. I am interested. Thank you. Dan Ross
